In a trial involving 886 smokers, e-cigarettes were more effective than nicotine-replacement therapy with respect to the 1-year abstinence rate. Throat or mouth irritation was more common in the e-cigarette group, and nausea was more common in the nicotine-replacement group.

This "behavioral support" is exactly what you see happening at vape shops and with the "vape fam" in general. In websites, blogs, forums ... and here on Twitter. It's spontaneous, organic, and honest. None of which can be said about the opposition.

Exactly right. Vapers have always helped each other and encouraged and taught smokers how to make it work. I owe six years of not smoking (after 38 of smoking a lot) to small vendors and people I met on
@ecigaretteforum . Nowadays vape shops like Paul's make it even easier.

Not sure what you mean by #2. Neither group was given meds. One was given e-cigs and the other NRT. Both received behavioral support and that support is mimicked at vape shops across the country.
-
The key point trying to be obscured is that with all else being equal,
#vaping outperformed NRT 2:1

1. Be specific! Which US regs plausibly make
#ecigs effective in UK impotent? 2. RRs in cessation drug trials are generally the same with & w/o behavioral support (effect size changes though) 3. Evidence shows alt nicotine helps kids no less, see:https://twitter.com/SetNicFree/status/1091382172894797824 … -
And don't forget what happens when teens have less access to less risky products: They keep on / (re)turn to smoking!

The difference is the UK government chose to tell their public the truth and be supportive of this disruptive technology. It's not too late for the US but the clock is approaching midnight.

So 1) UK may have the better legal/regulatory environment. 2) Providing support is better than discouragement and 3) using kids as a means to deny the evidence is short-sighted.
