My brother Philip is an addict, and bad parenting is often blamed for drug addiction. Well, my parents raised a Surgeon General, I think they did okay

My son died from an overdose. I agree we need to change the stigma. That being said, I feel like a complete failure as a parent. My world is forever broken.
Tammie, I am incredibly sorry for your loss. I share my family’s story in part so that those like you don’t feel so alone. Addiction is a disease that takes a community to prevent, treat, and / or heal from. Prayers for you and your family.

Thank you. I think the hardest part of him dying is that the rate of overdose deaths have increased rather decreased. Also, Trump talks about Drug Cartel killings. No one wants to talk about the elephant in the room. U.S. Corporate Drug Companies.

And we need to treat the genetic portion that causes a person to become addicted. That’s the real solution. Taking away pain meds that millions actually need to work, care for themselves and/or families has been proven not to eliminate drug overdoses caused by illegal drug use
