It is not just the army. Dental complaints are common in civilian emergency centers, partly due to lack of access to dental health services. Sad to hear stories of people dying from meningitis, osteomyelitis, and fasciitis when a dental visit could have prevented.

I completely agree. I work in Oral and Maxillofacial with the on call surgeon. I believe it’s time for healthcare to realign insurance companies to include the mouth as part of the body. Bad oral hygiene reflects a patients overall health. Need to establish healthy habits earlyon

I work in the dental field and I don’t understand WHY it’s considered separate health care (also, optometry). I believe every citizen has the right to healthcare, and it needs to include the whole person. The same bacteria that builds plaque on teeth builds plaque on hearts.
