I’ve often said, stigma is one of our biggest killers and a significant barrier to solving our public health problems. We need to get to a place where we can truly, as a nation, say that addiction is a chronic disease.

It is a chronic disease that needs to be treated with science, urgency, and compassion. Shankar Vedantam, @HiddenBrain, does a great job highlighting why social stigma is making the opioid crisis hard to confront:https://www.npr.org/2018/10/31/662009650/social-stigma-is-one-reason-the-opioid-crisis-is-hard-to-confront …

My heart goes out to the Troxell family. As a parent myself, I cannot understand the pain you are feeling right now. But I want you to know that we are doing everything we can to help the nation understand that addiction is a not a moral failing. It is a chronic disease.

I find it extremely odd and almost hypocritical that you all (Govt officials) speak of ending the stigma surrounding addiction, however your POLICIES are causing ppl that need Opioids for PAIN to be treatd LIKE ADDICTS. The irony would be laughable if it wasn't destroying lives.

I agree with you. I also think that Indivor, the maker of Suboxone, is using this problem to create a bigger market. How many #CPP r being forced onto Suboxone. Even the recent bill pushes Suboxone but leaves out Methadone. Pure Evil Indivor
