    These days design pattern is if "this from that" then try "that from this" with {this, that} from {voice, speech, language, income, face, video, genetics, intelligence, profiling, biometrics, migration, disease}.

    One of the first threads I have seen discussing in detail the recent Nature paper on Genetics & income.Need more economists & sociologists to weigh in

    Ok, deep breath, I am going to do a thread on this paper on the genetics of income from the Deary lab. tl;dr income is broadly downstream of intelligence, and common variant genetics has a v. modest role in determining income, but it is complex.

    Nothing better than to start your day with counting raindrops on your head, with a dash of & fixed points on the way. Raindrops or bombs, they are all Poissonian

    This infinite sum is not the easiest way to count the partitions of an n-element set, but it's beautiful. I'm studying it because I'm trying to understand the relation between permutations, partitions and Poisson distributions. (1/n)

    Why bemoan historical inaccuracies when our rote based education has made Mathematics the most hated subject for children in this country?History can be corrected but we are losing generations of young minds to a colonial system that beats creativity & self-confidence out of them

    There are many great Indian Mathematicians in recent times like Mahalanobis, S S Pillai, R C Bose, Harish Chandra, Varadhan, Varadarajan, C R Rao & numerous whose contributions are too extraordinary to ignore.
