Check out #RoboChem 🤖, this automated platform can do the entire substrate scope for our photocatalytic methodologies. We showcased it for 4 reaction classes and it improves chemist's yields every single time! When the students showed me the first results, i was speechless 🤯

Today we release #RoboChem 🤖 on @ChemRXiv: chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi #RoboChem is a versatile, all-in-one #robotic platform for #photocatalysis. It can optimize and scale your entire substrate scope and get you the best possible result for each single entry. #AI #Automation

Just to be clear, when they say nanowires they mean actual nanowires 🤯 wow

Another wonderful collaboration with @jerrynosnothing & Ed Egelman - we obtained the first structures of extracellular cytochrome nanowires from #Archaea. Congrats to all coauthors, @dianitabaquero, Virginija, @Christo92980592, et al @CellCellPress cell.com/cell/fulltext/

If you are interested in enabling data-driven research, we also have a PostDoc position with dedicated to developing research data management tools (leveraging LLMs for interfaces, search, ...). Contact me via the details in the post below! #chempostdoc

Do you want to push the boundaries on how we design, discover, and understand new materials? 👩🏼‍🔬 I'm starting a lab where we will use data-driven techniques to design materials that work in the real world - and I'm looking for Ph.D. students and PostDocs to join me!

....I'm sorry, did I just learn there's one specific person in Ohio with an impossibly massive viral load of a unique covid variant that we only know about because they're pissing so much of it into the local sewers it shows up as a graph outlier like fuckin Viruses Georg

Ohio cryptic lineage update. We’ve made no progress identifying the individual, but we have learned a few things. 1/

"But there are no strikes tomorrow!" you say, astutely. Yeah, when did that ever stop them... And I meant *tickets. Neither of my two purchased advance tickets from different companies tomorrow is for a train that actually exists...

Trainline now celebrates with a special banner on the occasion trains are *not* affected by strikes... Which seems right, as my nice quick advance ticket for tomorrow of course doesn't exist when I checked today. Did anybody alert me in any way? Nooooo... 😅

Catalysis shitpost:
STOP DOING CATALYSIS
METALS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE YELLOW AND CRUMBLY
YEARS OF R&D yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for going lower than ONE MOLAR EQUIVALENT
Wanted to go lower anyway for a laugh? We had a tool for that: it was called “REACTION SPILL”
“Yes please give me some (2-Dicyclohexylphosphino-2′,6′-diisopropoxy-1,1′-biphenyl)[2-(2′-amino-1,1′-biphenyl)]palladium(II) methanesulfonate” – Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged
LOOK at what Chemists have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the reactors and pilot plants we built for them
(This is REAL catalysis, done by REAL Chemists):
[RuPhos Pd G3 structure] ?????
[Catalytic energy diagram] ???????
[Enzyme structure] ??????????????
"Hello I would like [catalyst structure] apples please"
They have played us for absolute fools

Follow up: Anyone know of examples where someone has consciously *not* properly cited certain publishers/journals, due to their business practices? (Eg. Someone only citing arXiv or similar when a paper appears in a journal they oppose)
Quote Tweet
Researchers, #AcademicTwitter, do you think it's ok to miss citing literature that's in a paywalled journal you don't have access to?

My neighbour built a catio so now every time I go outside I get this
A row of terraced houses with a small upstairs catio so a black cat cat sit outside and observe the neighbours
The same pic zoomed in to give a better view of the haughty black kitty
The same pic zoomed in for a closeup of Kitty's judgemental face

Why is my aloe flower so unhappy? ☹️ This is the first time I saw him flower and it won't bloom and now it's drooping (been like this nearly a week!) 🪴

If I were superstitious I'd think the gods of travel had something against me this year 🤪 gotta love when your hotel booking disappears into the ether and it takes one hour to get from the lobby into a room, that you have now paid twice for 😂😂
