There is a quote which reads: "All children of Oregon deserve clean air and a bright future. These needs must not come second to the desire for faster speeds on a freeway." --Neon Brooks

a green new deal involves a dramatic investment in increase in transit service. Kudos ! Sure wish our local leadership wanted to invest in transit instead of hike fares and build freeways...

With a more rightsized approach to making the I-5 bridge safer, and a robust strategy to incentivize transit uptake, Oregon can invest the money saved into other needed transportation projects. oregonlive.com/opinion/2022/1

Pretty awesome we are at the point where despite god knows how many millions of dollars that @OregonDOT spent on breathless PR bluster for their freeway widening, the @Oregonian article straight up says that ODOT’s own research shows expansion isn’t necessary to tackle congestion twitter.com/Oregonian/stat…
Other significant changes to the environmental assessment include a reconfigured off-ramp from southbound I-5, which has been moved south and is now adjacent to another on-ramp to the highway.

And the new environmental assessment also was accompanied by a study of tolling in the area where the I-5 expansion is proposed.

The analysis showed that congestion would decrease and speeds on the freeway would increase if tolling was implemented β€” with or without the freeway expansion
