The VPP is something the
@GlendaleEco has spent years pushing for. Yesterday, it happened. The City also approved a customer efficiency retrofit program which will save 8 MW, and a demand response program that will save another 10MW.Show this thread -
The motion was introduced by councilmember
@DanForGlendale, and passed unanimously.Show this thread -
In March, we were a part of a coalition that worked tirelessly to elect
@DanForGlendale. We knocked on thousands of doors, and many of his staffers started as volunteers with Sunrise. When he won a seat, defeating an incumbent, it was our organization’s first electoral victory.Show this thread -
All it took was winning 1 of 5 seats to break the logjam and pass the VPP. Other climate reforms in Glendale that have passed since March include more bike lanes, the creation of the city’s first sustainability commission, and the hiring of a full-time Sustainability Officer.

If that’s what we can get done in six months with a single Councilmember in one city, imagine what we could do if our whole November slate of candidates wins. We could transform the whole region. Be a part of creating a Green New Deal:http://bit.ly/sunday-calls

So proud of
@DanForGlendale, the Brotman Campaign and movements like@SunriseMvmtLA for helping make something like this happen. It doesn't happen overnight, but a lot can happen when people put their power in motion.
