  3. I encourage journalists, analysts and news buffs to force yourselves to do something fun over the next few days. Put down Twitter, play with your kid, read a fantasy novel, watch a comedy. The Discourse is sucking joy out of our veins and what is the point of anything without it

The pictures of people trying to escape the violence in Syria’s are awful. It’s a road to nowhere, right now the border is closed & the border areas have too many displaced already. Another half a million on the move is a humanitarian disaster unfolding before our eyes.

  10. An older lady once told me that every time she wants to speak out of anger to someone foolish she takes a drink of water to stop herself and I’m thinking of trying this with Twitter but I’m worried about over-hydration

Your mom was badass back then, and saved me at least once that I know of. Also, such a heart! Great photo.

My mother was a fixer for ABC during the Lebanese Civil War and did some crazy shit (here she is on the roof of the Commodore Hotel during an Israeli bombing) so I’ll be like, “mama I’m going to Iraq” and she’ll say “wear a flak” but god forbid I go out in the cold with wet hair

I’m kind of worried she is going to dispatch a network of spies in both airports or hide cameras in my bag or something to make sure we wear them 😬

I fly to Beirut tomorrow and my mom showed up to catsit while we’re gone with two very sophisticated face masks for myself and my husband that she is insisting we wear in the airport because of the coronavirus, and my first thought was “I wonder if they work for tear gas”

I skipped the and went to the gym instead. I have a new policy of exposing myself only to political events of tangible substance. Take my cue, everyone. Life is too short to sit with your face in a phone steeping yourself in negativity for shit that has zero real impact.

The scale of the displacement in a idlib is mind boggling. Over one million people have fled since the beginning of the offensive, now it’s reaching crisis point as people flood toward the relative safety of the border areas to espace the bombing.
