Another example of the dangerous distortions caused by the choices that make TV news "newsworthy." Protests with violence make for graphic images. Nonviolent ones don't.

Exactly. Journalism's answer to the question "what is news?" remains "when man bites dog, not when dog bites man." In other words, the exception is newsworthy; the norm is not. This translates into an incorrect understanding of events and issues that harms democracy.
