I meant as an adult looking back to your childhood, what harmless thing terrified you as a child. I just assumed only adults would respond. Sorry for not being specific.
For me, it was seeing my grandmother take out her teeth.

My grandfather's prosthetic leg

My grandfather was missing his left eye due to cancer. There was a big gaping hole that he kept covered with an eye patch. When he would nap in a chair that eye patch would slide up and reveal that dark cavity and it would freak me out back then.
