Raise the topic of young, idle (and far more often than not, white) men with social grievances, all of a sudden Ross Douthat sounds like a dreaded "social justice warrior," mourning society's emasculation of these young men's dignity.

What's irksome is there are some decent centrist proposals on how to enable people to live fulfilled working lives: make it easier for people to enter the profession of their choice by reforming occupational licensing laws, for instance.
