. telling us about the future of “operational” event attribution - a way to quickly & routinely report on how climate change could have boosted odds/intensity of single extreme weather events in Europe soon after they occur

Excellent summary by on tonight including mention of the fingerprints of climate change being there. Thanks to for invitation to participate also; I didn't realise my earpiece was hanging out.

Tweet of the Climate 2019. 2019 brings to a close the warmest decade on record at the surface, with ocean heat content and sea level also reaching record highs. Data from various sources compiled here:

Six indicators of long-term climate change: global mean temperature, ocean heat content, sea level, Arctic sea-ice extent, glacier mass balance and carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. All doing pretty much as you'd expect.

Ocean heat content in 2019 was the warmest on record by a sizable margin. Between 2018 and 2019 the oceans absorbed an amount of heat around four times larger than all the energy used by humans in the world.

I don't know if anyone needs some motivation to cycle to work but if you do, hope this helps... I started cycling to work this year and each time I put aside the money I would have spent on driving, car park fees or taking the bus (depending on which office I cycled to) 1/2

Cancelled my climate change and extremes lecture for tomorrow, made the very tough decision to split the family and taking the kiddo out of Canberra to try find somewhere safe for her. Awful times.
