You have the right to choose who and where you share your experiences. We're sorry to hear this wasn't respected.

-
They have exploited you, your privacy, choice and mental health, for their gain. You choose when and who you talk to about it.
-
Depression's a sore subject especially for men, to even open up must of been hard let alone it being published.. keep ur head up x
-
it's exploitative
-
Absolutely on your side here. It's exploitation of your pain to sell their magazine. You should get to control your own story.
-
-
would you like me to sue them for you
-
i love the confidence

it's bad of them to do ANYTHING without your full consent ESPECIALLY a personal issue... Well done for calling them out on it

-
you're in the right! If they wanted your story/your picture they should've asked you. Especially with such a tough subject!!!
-
-
also worth noting that your reluctance of this tells others that depression is something to hide and be ashamed of
-
It tells others that we have the right to tell our own MH stories to who *we* choose, instead of having our exps exploited w/o permission.
-
if your story can save lives then it becomes about more than you. That article will save at least 1 life, that's important
-
Having your exps stolen & used might save somebody's life, but it might ruin or take yours. That's an unacceptable price.
-
so the life's of I don't know a dozen people are less important than upsetting one person? If so that's really sad
-
With MH, the needs of the many don't always outweigh the needs of the one, esp when the lives of all may be at risk.
-
so 12 people dying is better than 1 being hurt?
-
think about that for a second. Really just think about the ramifications of that philosophy

It's a matter of principle. They should have asked esp for something as important and personal to you. End of.
-
Good thing you exposed this foul move from
@NME. At least it shows you were wise since the beginning. Respect is EVERYTHING. -
shocking what they have done. I have had depression for 3 years and know what you are going thru, light at the end of the tunnel
