Since Wednesday we have had this going inland over NC and then crawling into VA. Should this turn out correct, this is likely to be the worst natural disaster on record for Carolinas into VA Major hit combined with 3-4 feet of rain in some places over 3-4 day period.

With that ridge to it’s north I just don’t see how it goes out to sea. Hell, 24 Hours ago I was thinking N FL could have been in play. Last year ridging was overdone on models until the last minute. Can’t rule out Chesapeake

OBX has been my thought from the beginning. Sticking with it now. Talking a cat 5 in a couple days, that’s gonna go poleward somewhat and with its starting point OBX always made sense to me. Hanging with it despite some guidance south and east of there

We’re seeing the classic mid range flip flop or windshield wiper effect as some like to call it. Yesterday it was south, today is north a bit. Very well could be wrong but at this point I’m willing to wager a fair amount that makes landfall in NC and on the Outer Banks.

The new ECMWF ensemble tracks for are in. It features a most-likely landfall near the SC-NC border with a tighter cluster of ensemble members than the previous run. Takeaway: there is increasing forecast confidence. Begin hurricane prep if you haven't yet.

Two distinct camps on the 12z GFS ensembles. One group with a landfall and one grouping offshore. Ensembles starting disagreeing in the 72-96 hour range.

Afternoon guidance shifting east. We’re gonna go back and forth for another day or two. I like OBX for landfall.

If GFS came to pass having a Major hurricane come to a crawl on or just offshore the Outer Banks would be terrible. Full Res 922mb. Even if you add 30mb to that its not good.
