You can’t see them, but microscopic invaders such as invasive waterfleas and zebra mussel larvae could be hiding in your bait bucket. To prevent spreading these invasive species to the lakes you fish on, be sure to dump your bait bucket at least 30m away from the water.

Awesome ! With our watercraft inspection program, continually building awareness, set fines and CBSA’s increased assistance with the Manitoba portion of the International border, we are definitely building upon our AIS defence!

Just completed my tour of Manitoba’s 16 Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) ports. To enter Canada, all watercraft including 🛶s and kayaks and equipment e.g., anchors and bait buckets must be Clean, Drained and Dry.

Aquatic invasive species like Asian carp have been called a ‘never-ending oil spill.’ It's an apt analogy. Chemical pollution typically dilutes & degrades over time, but biological spills deliver pollution that can adapt, proliferate and spread.

The St Lawrence Seaway is 60 years old. In addition to providing enormous economic benefits, it facilitated some of the most disruptive aquatic invasions ever seen in North America.
