This is an error. Brexit isn’t an event. It’s a change in Europe that has implications for everyone. Get it right and we have a changed friendship, but get this wrong and it could eat away at us, and that will harm us all. This is a stratification shift, not a trade talk.

This, by Spanish Foreign minister , is absolutely superb. The clearest expression of the problem I've heard. The UK is trying to use a trade deal to do something it's not designed to do. This, fundamentally, is why negotiations have failed. Well worth sharing.

This is troubling. Britain is supposed to have cabinet government as an important democratic safeguard against arbitrary rule. Yet on the most momentous decision Britain has faced for decades, it seems this cabinet of pygmies has not only not been consulted but not even briefed.
