Both are/were valid times to nominate a candidate. There's going to be no broad agreement on how this is done going forward, especially with a president who lost the popular vote nominating his second in as many years, you blew it up. We are in Mitch McConnell's wild west.

Is it? Last time I checked the Rs couldn't even the difference between pandering to Russia, Kim Jong Un, or even bring themselves to show a lick of bipartisan decency. Or are they in agreement shouting "enemy of the people" while pointing at the press pool is totally responsible?

The President won the electoral vote. He lost the popular vote. The majority of Americans should have the chance to be heard. Wait until after the election.

How? Let the American people make a decision, its even favorable for R's in senate. How can voting for the senate, which has full power to approve or deny noms, not be seen as the people making the choice? Its almost July.

Merrick Garland was nominated on March 16, 2016 — or 237 days before that year’s election. McConnell said that was too close to Election Day for Obama to pick and voters should decide. Justice Kennedy announced his retirement today — 132 days before this year’s election.

The law makes no distinction. We're going to hold this off till 2020 so the people can decide. Hello from the other side.
