As we start studying routes for a #jerseycity BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system - I thought I would share w/you data on workers commuting by bus from different parts of JC. An intra city system w/certain roads only bus/bike will give people in the North/Side better/faster movement

There’s a lot of intercity travel, too — JC to Hoboken, UC to JC. I know local mayors don’t play well together, but we are one urban area.

How would this BRT system affect the privately operated, cheap yet generally unregulated jitney buses?

It will be important also to have the data about how long is taken your trip to journal square or to a path train station from your home if you are in jc..for me its 30 minutes for 1.5 miles..

The data is 6-10 years old. Don't you think that this data has changed significantly since then?

Residents commuting by bus to work within JC/Hudson County/NJ or do the numbers include traffic in/out of NYC?

I selfishly nominate Washington Park to Downtown JC via Webster/Baldwin, but Hwy 495 to Journal Square via Summit probably has greater impact on transit starved neighborhoods.

We’ve seen remarkable results with Express Bus Lanes in Staten Island and other major cities. Jersey City can make big improvements for bus commuters by implementing some of the steps taken by these other large cities.
