The most confounding question is why some development staff deny the overwhelming evidence that the tax incentive matters. I’ve heard these doubts directly from fundraisers. Proof: a small number of charities actually promoted the 2020/2021 deduction in appeals.

This raises three issues: 1. why charities do EOY appeals (@LivingUnited) - it works, 2. why donors give EOY - sometimes they get a deduction, 3. why more charities don’t promote/advocate for the tax deduction - disconnect.

The overwhelming number of donations are under $300. Fortunately 2020 and 2021 nonitemizer deduction will perpetuate the wide spread perception of tax deductible donations - leading to billions more in donations.

Donors give end of year because of real or perceived tax benefits. But most don’t stay up to date on changes in the law. They just know generally you might get a tax deduction. That’s powerful enough to create the incentive.

#HillScoop House Republicans will vote tomorrow on whether to keep earmarks in place next Congress. What’s at stake? Billions for nonprofits. Integer's @Steve_Taylor_DC makes a Constitutional case in favor of earmarks for nonprofits: #nonprofits #earmarks thehill.com/opinion/financ
"Congress is the anointed steward of taxpayer dollars. Congressionally directed spending and community project funding are embodiments of that authority." House GOP considers rules changes Wed.; argues they should keep directed spending.

House Republicans will vote today on whether to continue earmark funding. My expectation is that a majority will support earmarks, virtually guaranteeing this critical stream of #funding for #nonprofits and #charities. by thenonprofittimes.com/regulation/don

Billions in earmarks were designated for thousands of projects in FY22, and nonprofits' share - $1.7 billion - could grow next cycle. Check out the recent @NonProfitTimes by @PaulClolery and @CM_richard covering the return of earmarks for nonprofits. thenonprofittimes.com/regulation/don
A month ago, I made a list of the universe of potential new Republican Senators. (I added Sasse after the UF announcement). A few minutes ago, RCP updated its list to match mine (all are R or toss-up)
