Was Lou Brock a Superstar? Was Steve Garvey?

Oh c’mon. Yeah Garv was great at this, but basically so is every first baseman. It’s not like ML 1st sackers aren’t already getting 98 of 100 anyway. Garv got a few more a year but that doesn’t make up for the 30 DPs a year he lost by NEVER EVER throwing to 2nd, or anywhere else

In baseball, I suspect that errors, especially the divisive ones where the thrower charged with the error feels the first baseman ought to have made the grab, do more psychological damage to a team than stats guys can easily measure.

Nonsense, MLB players have maybe 2 seconds of doubt after an E. After that it’s back to normal. And I’d rather have a few secs of psych damage than a whole career of missed DPs and extra outs.
