It's almost as if despite all the social privileges and lucky timing in the world, even women who graduated from Stanford in 1994 aren't very good at and/or very interested in technology.

Similarly, lots of the smartest women go into the life sciences. Why? One reason is because they find the life sciences more interesting than the death sciences. Not many woman ever thought "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds" was an awesome thing to say, but a lot of guys do

Very high female attrition at top firms. Most people can’t cut it at the real madhouses, but very, very few women have what it takes to bill enough hours. Unless you’re an IWSB you’ve got to pull your weight there. Most women would rather do something else.

Medicine is probably a better fit than law for women with high ability and ambition. Female ER docs have higher patient survival rates than male ER docs because they listen more. Probably give more of a shit even when the job turns into a grind.

Better to have children and pass on those genes. Women doctors are still women and want children. They reduce their workload and hours to raise their children. That slot in medical school that could have gone to a man will go to a woman who is semi retired at 35.
