The 3 medalists in the 2016 Olympic women 800m running race all appeared to be male on the inside. This is an extremely rare birth defect, but it still made a farce out of an Olympic women's event. Was it fair to the real women in the race?https://twitter.com/LegalPhilosop1/status/992296932100919296 …

I agree. But this is not a case of "shooting up with testosterone". This is naturally-occurring testosterone. She was born like this. Or do you not think this changes the situation?

I've a suspicion that almost *every* female Olympic gold medalist is abnormally high in testosterone or otherwise much closer to biological men in some way than the average woman.

That may just the nature of being #1 in the world at something that is ordinarily very masculine: women who are biologically more "masculine" than average will always have an advantage.

You're wrong there. These are intersex people with a genetic defect, not masculine women. In fact elite middle distance women tend to have classically feminine bodies. Melissa Bishop here, #4 in Rio, who should have received the gold.pic.twitter.com/u6TR0q71eE

What is "intersex?" There are XX's and XY's. There are the rare XXY's who have high bodyfat, a pear shape, and poorly developed male sex organs. Seems pretty straightforward: test for a Y chromosome.

Often it seems to be a defective chromosome. Turner syndrome is an example.

Still, not a biological category for "intersex." Klinefelter's or Turner's are just not going to show up in athletic events

In practice, that seems to be exactly the biological category in use. A defective gene, or a missing gene, or an extra gene. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

But not "intersex." Turner's and klinefelter's have health problems and don't reach top tiers where testing a consideration & still manifest as female male respectively Cases r males w malformed genitals but otherwise testes v. ovaries. Or healthy males adopting fem. persona

Simple solution: add a new class of runners, just as 1984 Olympics officials added the super-heavyweight class to boxing.

One class for non-users, and another (no medals, though) for those who test high in performance enhancers, testosterone, steroids, growth hormones, etc.

I'm just looking forward to the Lomachenko fight Sunday night in MSG. Somebody please explain his magnificent boxing skill. His opponents just quit fighting.
