Assortative mating in Brazil. A large variety of phenotypes that people tend to identify with, with greater European admixture for non-whites when compared to the US context.pic.twitter.com/yqnuKfHyPj
The Brazilian government uses poor discrete phenotypical categorization when people spontaneously identify as mixed, mestiços, mulatos. This exacerbates the problem in Brazil where geneology is complicated and phenotype & genotype are less correlatedhttp://foreignpolicy.com/2017/04/05/brazils-new-problem-with-blackness-affirmative-action/ …
This girl has been classified as "non-defined race" in the Brazilian Affirmative Action Program because of stringent phenotypical categorization https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=955015134597454&set=p.955015134597454&type=3&theater …pic.twitter.com/CD7Wwlcfo1
There was never really a rigidly enforced one drop rule. Why are Latinos exempt from it? http://racetraitor.org/nelson.html
I find it interesting he frets about blacks being cordoned off as a separate culture, when Hispanics so eagerly self-segregate as a separate culture voluntarily. The objection appears to be that due to lack of mixing, whiteness here is a culture and not a lifestyle.
Affirmative action is racism, plain and simple. Quotas are racism. Giving benefits on the basis of race is racism. Penalties based on race are racism
Courts understood that rigidly enforcing the rules against mixed marriage would have been a disaster—for whites. http://www.legalaffairs.org/issues/September-October-2003/story_sharfstein_sepoct03.msp …
He looks like a Brazilian version of Jesus, so ... maybe?
