By "we," you mean Israel should take in its first Syrian refugees, right? Israel has a nice, lightly populated, well-watered area called the Golan Heights where Syrians would feel at home. Heck, some Syrian refugees were born in the Golan Heights! http://www.unz.com/isteve/where-should-syrian-refugees-be-allowed-to-go/ … https://twitter.com/SethAMandel/status/983176420292743168 …

Roughly 10,000,000 Syrians have been displaced by war. How many does Seth believe "we" should admit?

Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, still has a lot of living space and thus should be an excellent destination for Syrian refugees. Plus, both of these groups are Arabs and Muslims and thus would probably be culturally compatible--especially if Saudi Arabia continues liberalizing.

Yes, but let us maintain an effort at objectivity. Israel took the Golan Heights in 1967 because the Syrian army was frequently shelling Israeli settlements in the Israeli Galilee valley below. One thing that remains constant is that the Arabs are always their own worst enemies.

Israel needs the Golan Heights for its living space, though. Indeed, Israel is very likely going to experience severe overpopulation pressure in the future and is thus going to need all of the living space that it can get.
