My vague recollection of physical anthropologist Carleton Coon's 1965 "Living Races of Man" was he divided humanity into west-of-Himalayas (whites including Asian Indians, blacks, Bushmen) and east-of-Himalayas (East Asians, Amerindians, Australians). Now, it's blacks vs. rest. https://twitter.com/DavidBowmanK/status/979200854581366784 …

It's a little noticed consequence of the "Out of Africa" theory that has been popular since the 1980s that it divides humanity up into two main groups: sub-Saharan Africans versus everybody else. Reich's new book suggests West Africans are most divergent. Implications aren't PC.

Just to clarify: Are Aborigines in the "everybody else" category due to convergent evolution of their phenotype?

Aborigines have a large amount of DNA from the Denisovan species.

Poor Reich. The witch sniffers are already after him. He tried to passionately deny Crimethink... but I’m afraid the stake and pile of logs are being prepared by the townsfolk.

From what I've read, the proto-Eurasians split off from East Africans roughly 80,000 years ago. West Africans? 125,000 years ago. Abraham Lincoln's line about how there being no greater difference between peoples than (American) whites and blacks looks ever more apt.

According to some, the ones that didn't leave Africa are fully human and everyone else are neanderthals and therefore sub-human. I wish I would've saved the quote, it was during an internet fight over whether the 'whites' of Africa should be killed outright, or not. 👀
