The defusing of the population bomb in places like Bangladesh shows that the enormous population growth forecasted by the UN for sub-Saharan Africa _can_ be averted ... But that's not likely to happen if everybody worries that it would be racist to even mention the problem ...https://twitter.com/MassimoHeitor/status/975388166780805120 …

Most of the "problem solved" popultn happytalk in the financial press is intended to psychologically disarm ppl about demographic threats & grease the gears for mass immigration, wage suppression

The population of South Asia (Greater India) is 1.8 Billion & growing. Their desire to migrate to the West (& ability to do so) will likely be a bigger threat than Sub-Sahar Africa till 2025.

Also, the example of Bangladesh shows that even countries with a low average IQ can fully experience the demographic transition--something which is certainly extremely uplifting.

Even if it happens, it may not happen before climate change, deforestation, war, or land seizures cause the food supply to run out. Some African countries lack sufficient FX reserves to import mass quantities of food. It’s a race against time.

I’m not sure the bomb is even an issue. Right now, Africa is a sparsely populated continent. Assuming the UN’s projections hold true, parts of it will look like Bangladesh and Uttar Pradesh, which are crowded, but far from Malthusian catastrophes.
