In a twisted way, he has a point. We could point out that the governments of the UK, France, and Germany are being quite illiberal on freedom of expression and assembly, and mention that NATO was to act as a defense pact among liberal democracies.

Furthermore, if they wish to put down their own defenses in regards to refugee/asylum seeker intake (much of which is still unvetted from the time the migrant crisis began), mass immigration, and feminization of militaries and law enforcement, that should also be hung over them.

Yes, just to be clear I'm well aware that he was likely referring to the Visegrád Group, and that the US and/or other powers should quash nationalist sentiments therein. Of course, this can cut both ways.
