After all, what have Tuscans ever done for the world? I mean besides Dante, Brunelleschi, Donatello, Leonardo, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Galileo, Fibonacci, and Puccini? http://www.unz.com/isteve/after-all-what-has-tuscany-ever-done-for-the-world/ …https://twitter.com/nytimesworld/status/966179463099748354 …

African migrants are pushing Tuscans off of the Magic Dirt of Tuscany. Tuscans had a good 3,000 year run since Etruscan times in Florence, Pisa, and Sienna, discovering perspective, sfumato and the moons of Jupiter. No doubt their Sahelian successors will be just as creative!

I followed you link for "magic dirt" in the Wakanda review and I still don't think I get what you mean by it. Perhaps the idea that simply be being in a certain geographic location life will be magically better, even if the culture that was there is erased?

Magic Dirt is what the Near North Side of Chicago had until they built the Cabrini-Green housing project there, when it suddenly had Tragic Dirt. Then Rahm E and Richie Daley tore down Cabrini and sent the tenants to Dubuque w/Section 8 vouchers and now the Magic Dirt is back!

I worked with inner city children in North St. Louis for 10 years on a street that is now abandoned as one house after another was condemned or burnt down. (Just off ML King Drive of course.) You could see how beautiful the homes had been originally.
