Indeed, the organized conservative movement was once led by meritocratic mental giants such as John Podhoretz, Norman Podhoretz, Midge Decter & Elliott Abrams; Bill Kristol, Irving Kristol & Gertrude Himmelfarb; and Donald Kagan, Frederick Kagan, Robert Kagan & Victoria Nuland!https://twitter.com/bariweiss/status/966781463365636101 …

I know I should be over it, but the speed at which the organized conservative movement became the ideological home of Marion Le Pen, Seb Gorka, Nigel Farage, Dinesh D'Souza and their ilk remains shocking to me.

"meritocratic mental giants..." Bill Kristol. Victoria Nuland. Now that's funny!

Nepotism here necessarily implies a worthy first generation. So it would be unfair to cast aspersions on the intellectual capabilities and meritocratic bona fides of Norman Podhoretz, Donald Kagan, Irving Kristol and perhaps Gertrude Himmelfarb.

The fact that they choose their children to lead in their place suggests they were unworthy of the attention in the first place, Nepotism is rarely the end goal of greatness

Why can’t we find true conservative leaders that could match Pelosi, Schumer and Waters?

@bariweiss and the MSM crowd love Nepotism, Nothing in their eyes makes someone more fit for a place in the capital than a famous relation or spouse Who needs elections when you have Connections!

Gosh, aren’t there any baby Podhoretzes or Kristols waiting in the nurseries? Are we out of Kagans? Isn’t there a third rate Cohen or Horowitz out there? Anywhere? Have we tried the Goldman-Sachs intern washouts?

@BillKristol and @jpodhoretz 's parents were first-rate scholars and thinkers - books line my shelves. The children are rotten and truly vile.
