"Clockwork Orange"-style home invasions are rather rare in Los Angeles because homeowners are so heavily armed these days. England has more burglaries and rural home invasions because fewer guns make it a safer career. English went high tech to fight crime, as Burgess predicted.https://twitter.com/edwest/status/966281049864134656 …

if it was Dublin then Im assuming heroin was somewhere involved. burglary appears to be more common in UK than US, and the chances of doing jail for it are slim, but American-style home invasions featuring rape, torture or murder are thankfully very rare.

Hollywood folks are surprisingly gun crazy even though there's not much opportunity for hunting in SoCal. Steven Spielberg, for instance, has a superb collection of shotguns. He buys an Italian handmade shotgun to reward himself for each film he finishes. https://www.rawstory.com/2015/06/its-not-just-vince-vaughn-here-are-5-surprising-pro-gun-celebrities-who-are-also-packing-heat/ …pic.twitter.com/BIRY3nYzrd

My brother has long lived near the state line area of Reno but always makes sure any house he rents or buys is on the Nevada side, just because of the difference in how police would react to him shooting an intruder in his home. Difference between arrest and 'Good job'.

And when a British homeowner does defend himself, he is often the one who ends up charged and prosecuted.

Its not the presence of inanimate objects- guns that make home invasion more or less likely Its the presence of Blacks

My understanding is that disarming the populace in England promoted homeowners to invest in home alarms which then prompted the burglars to commit more actual burglaries (break ins when people are home) so as not to trip the alarms.
