In 1966, the year before the Detroit Riot, 22,000 whites left Detroit. In 1968, the year after, 80,000 whites left. The prudent ones who sold out before the Riot presumably lost less of their net worth than the suckers who stuck around. http://takimag.com/article/riot_acting_steve_sailer/print#axzz56zunBeXh …https://twitter.com/HobbesianM/status/963964152908742657 …

Did they accurately predict it, or did they respond to it earlier than others? Does anyone have year-by-year data on crime and population for Detroit?

You have written about how your wife's parents lost everything because they didn't sell their house & move out the moment black people started to move into their Chicago neighborhood. They left only after their kids kept getting robbed. What was the title of that article again?

Per the Canadian census, my hometown had 172,180 whites(out of 521,315) in 2011. In 2016, the numbers are 153,390(out of 590,950). Not as impressive as those Detroit numbers, probably because they're escaping Bangladeshis and Sikhs instead of blacks.

The first ones to leave Detroit were the first to buy the best real estate in Arizona. These people made a ton of money.

what would South Central LA be worth real estate wise if they could start from scratch? 15 minutes from the beach, sunny all day, airport, mountains. Boggles. heck, Maxine Waters on the brain might even deign buy a house there

would be interesting to go back and see who "saw it coming" with the demographic shift of the late 50's & early 60's...
