If wages went up 20% because you send back all the illegal immigrants, have you considered the impact to cost of goods? Who would take on the vacancies left behind, if unemployment is at a low point? Are we ready to pay 40K for a Ford Focus? or $20 per Lbs Strawberries?

But they also increase demand for goods, leading to more consumption, which helps grow businesses and thus increase wages and demand for jobs. Also- increase supply for workers in one field might lead to lower wages. But this increase for the total economy, and fill demand.
-
I think you’re making the same mistake many people make, which is the idea that the economy is a zero sum game. It’s not. Immigrants (often) fill jobs with high demand and low supply. Unemployment is 4%- isn’t now the optimal time to bring immigrants? Demand for jobs > supply.
-
Law of supply & demand says that the job will be of higher pay because fewer people want to do it. Don’t need an illegal just some more $.

Your assumption is based on the supply side of labor and the demand side for rent, therefore it's not a valid statement.
-
supply of labor goes up, price of labor goes down demand for rent goes up, price of rent goes up immigration drives up labor supply and rent demand (they want jobs and they need places to live) It's not hard to figure this out you're just retarded
-
Again, your making assumptions, if the supply of labor increases but the demand for labor is high the price could very well remain constant..... you have to look at both supply and demand - you are only looking at one side.

What do you believe drives wages down and rents up? what does your literature say.
-
artificial restrictions of development via zoning, regs that drive up construction costs, inflation that drives down wages
-
Your right, the government does drive costs up with regs & zoning. Too small to affect inflation. Does not affect wages except making them artificially high thur minimum wage. Wages stay low because too many people wanting to few jobs.
-
wages are low due to inflation caused by our monetary policy. Immigrants do take some jobs, but they also crate others by starting businesses, which they have a high tendency to do. Many of our largest employers were created by immigrants, so makes no sense to scapegoat them
-
Name some businesses created by illegal immigrants. All the ones I see are 1 person catering to the other illegals. They could have done that in their own country. Otherwise I see doing jobs American's could be doing. Look around where you live.
-
nobody here is discussing illegal immigration. The president is insisting on cutting *legal* immigration in exchange for amnesty (literally the opposite of what he campaigned on)
-
The problem is too many immigrant legal & illegal. Do you think we can get rid of all the illegals? No. So we stop all immigration fix the illegal problem then change legal immigration numbers.
-
we need to increase legal immigration, and there will be less incentive to immigrate legally. We should be discussing how much to increase legal immigration, not how much to decrease it. Honestly, there's no reason we should have at least three times as much legal immigration
