It's funny how "historically oppressed" has recently become a euphemism for "presently privileged." The more powerful a group is in the present, the more we will hear about how oppressed they were in the past.https://twitter.com/NuritBaytch/status/952346466722418689 …

So it’s important to refute this alt-right/antisemitic /white nationalist argument by noting that Jews are a historically oppressed minority, while white people are not. Hence, they are making a false equivalence between white people and Jewish people

The Jewish people were victims of genocide less than a century ago. Most of my father’s family was killed in the Holocaust. According to the FBI, Jews were victims of 54% of religiously-motivated hate crimes in 2016:https://ucr.fbi.gov/hate-crime/2016/tables/table-1 …

Hi Nazi. Jews have always been minorities wherever they lived, except in Israel. Minorities are often victims of bigotry. See: the treatment of black people almost everywhere, the treatment of Roma almost everywhere, etc.

It also raises the question whether the "historically oppressing" are simply too unassuming and politically unconnected to advance a narrative of their own historical oppression at the hands of the "historically oppressed."

This strikes me as a very useful strategy to ward off resentment. On an individual basis, it is mirrored by the multimillionaire who talks of arriving in America with a mere five dollars sewn into his trouser lining.

The currently most privileged have long tried to be the oppressors, often succeeding for awhile? They're into an end game of 'winner takes all' now? https://www.darkmoon.me/2014/the-jewish-question-a-problem-without-a-solution-part-2/ … …

The "{blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, etc} can't be racist because racism is power + privilege" is another one. 1) that is not the definition of racism. 2) except for Native Americans none of these groups claiming to be "powerless" actually are powerless, not by a long shot.

By your logic, Steve, should the Jews rule over Germany? After all, Germany oppressed and murdered them on an unimaginable scale; thus, shouldn't the Jews get extremely massive compensation for this (as in, much more than Holocaust reparation payments)?

As much as I hate the Alt Right, there is some truth to your comment. Every minority group in America has been taught to place the blame for their ills on anyone else but themselves or their leadership. Now I suppose, it is the turn of white people to fall for the same ruse.

At least the alt-right doesn't pretend to be "anti-racist". This Jewish activist should concern herself with the anti-Semitism on the left. It's as prevalent as in the alt-right but, unlike the alt-right, they are not demonized for it by the media.
