As journalists write about immigration policy, we need to take care not to slip into these loaded phrases. For decades, “chain migration” was known as “family-based migration system,” which allows members of families to sponsor relatives.

Molding The Narrative was so much more of a discreet process in the days of Journolist. But now when we professional journalists do it on Twitter, the rubes can listen in. A reminder to all media people: The term is not "chain migration," it's "clan migration."
