Lots of concepts are somewhat arbitrary while being highly useful and existent: e.g., How many languages are there in the world? How many classes? How many religions? How many age groups? How many species?https://twitter.com/TheDisproof/status/941250178501226496 …

"race" is indeed arbitrary, the number of groupings and which group depending on which loci you pick. It also serves no useful purpose in humans. Interesting to see that those who have the most to lose from traditional "race" being a genetic myth defend it the strongest. pic.twitter.com/nTD3DfSyC0

"Color is arbitrary, the color of an object depending on the beholder. For blind moles, color do not exist. Thus race is a myth." 🤔

That bonus is quite a piece of work. Looks like its full time job for yrs has been "debunking race" using really tired early 2000s arguments like "genome project said race doesn't exist"

If we replace "race" (which is indeed a historically charged word) with "populations" and use the exact same arguments, leftists generally agree with everything we say

Yes and no. Throughout history, humans rely upon categorization to survive and prosper. Race is one such natural & powerful marker. In ancient wars, you just try to kill the guy looking different from you. Modern Western civilization is all about fighting against human instinct.

All classification is in the eye of the beholder. That doesn't make it "arbitrary" but subjective. All of concepts work this way. They're "intersubective" and without them we become nominalists and thinking is impossible.

Breeds of dogs exist but they're also social constructs. They're controlled genetic expressions for human purposes. The group called, "whites", are genetic expressions of a particular people. Such people are attached to the social dimension of "whiteness".Whiteness is white people

I've also liked your neighborhood comparison, geography and ancestry going hand in hand. How many neighborhoods a city has doesn't need a definitive answer, but different common purposes are achieved by drawing boundaries in slightly different ways.

You mentioned mostly subjective things. The difference here being that people here are claiming they can objectively identify which generalised sweeping "racial group" someone fits into based on 5% of 0.1% of someone's active genes, which has yet to be shown.

Also, race is genetic, not merely social construct/arbitrary. The cultural/social differences between West/East are probably genetic in origin.
