If you tried to walk from Norway to South Africa, you'd probably die of thirst in the Sahara Desert. If you tried to walk from Africa to South America, you'd definitely drown in the Atlantic Ocean. Major racial divides follow major pre-1492 geographical barriers.https://twitter.com/TheDisproof/status/940668013937872896 …

If you walked from Norway to South Africa you would find a gradual change in appearance, the myth of "race" came about in the 16-1800's because at the time sea travel was more common, you would jump from Sweden to what is now Nigeria ignoring everything inbetween.

This also ignores that people other than Europeans recognized ethnic differences going back thousands of years. Does he really think the caste system in what was eventually collected under the name India sprang up overnight when Euros showed up?

Early mariners followed the coastlines, so they were no strangers to spectrum of human forms. They didn't forget when they acquired the skills and tech to enable deep sea voyages.

If you tried to walk from Lisbon to Beijing before 1900 or so, you'd probably be killed by nomadic horsemen unless you were a mean bastard yourself. Hence why the European and Asian races had contact off and on but largely developed separately.

The Alans wound up becoming the Ossetians. The Avars, too, exist in the Caucasus, that great wine cellar of Trans-Eurasian ethnicities.

Arnold Toynbee said that Europeans became obsessed with race only after they stopped dividing the world into Christians v. Heathen. Islam continued to divide between Believers and Unbelievers and so are remarkably unracist.

Yeah...go spend some time in the Gulf States. Their views towards non-Arabs, even black Muslims, would be similar to what you hear at a Klavern Potluck.

No. You'd freeze in Lapland or Russia long before the Sahara. And if you did make it to the Sahara, you'd have plenty of water because you'd be right along the course of the Nile.
