It's almost as if importing tens of millions of Hispanic workers since 1979 has hurt black American workers due to Law of Supply and Demand.https://twitter.com/_jeffguo/status/892772391759294464 …

This is the chart I found most surprising. Isn't just the 1%/0.1%—which is mostly white—pulling away. Look at median wages for black workers pic.twitter.com/ZxjBxZFw5O

No, no, no. All the Smart People know the labor market enjoys an unexplained exemption to the law of supply and demand.

Once upon a time (until the 80s) airports were a source of good working class jobs for Blacks -now everyone at Ohare LGA and JFK is Hispanic

I suspect there is correlation between African-American male incarceration rates and Latino immigration though I can't cite any studies.

How do we know these imported workers create more supply of labor than demand for labor? They buy stuff..

No chance. Not only are they among the lowest-paid workers in the U.S., but they also send a big chunk of their earnings abroad.

Workers make things. More stuff / more people = roughly same amount of stuff per person. Unless they don't make things, of course.

Immigration is a handy way to deflect blame away from the government buggering the price system.

Hmm...the issue of Black labor seems like a place where the zero-sum model of immigration and labor is correct. Will research more.
