There are many kinds of "affordable" housing: reserved for X% of median income, section 8, and old school housing projects. Build quality and density also play a role as does what the hood was like before. IMO it's not simple. Old school housing projects were awful.

Most NIMBY supporters are in coastal areas where land is constrained and incomes are high. Even BMR housing in SF requires a 6 figure salary, so we're not talking about the projects. OTOH, we should be honest that the NIMBY agenda is to get the price down by increasing supply
-
^Should be YIMBY. :) I am a proud YIMBY. I think it's enough to adopt over the counter zoning, streamline zoning and lower costs, raise height limits, and adopt a Georgist tax -- I am very skeptical of set asides for low income housing.

The left has been deliberately gaslighting Americans for decades. It's only recently that we have become aware of how widespread it is.

It’s self evidently wrong. Imagine a nice house surrounded by other nice houses. Imagine the same house across the street from new section 8 apartment block. Which house would you pay more for?
-
Brilliant. If I, or anyone else is ever in another argument over this issue, tell them you don't care about the studies, stats, I've never even looked at 'em, insert this exact question. They surly wont concede, but you'll see the lie and defeat in their eyes. Utter satisfaction

What a red herring “home values” is... human feces all over SF properties, but prices still going up so, ‘There is a myth that defecation makes property values drop.’ How about wanting to live in a real genuine community?

Silly nostalgia to want neighbors you trust and like, most likely. What matters is size of HELOC...

Here in Denmark the house prize in a province city is up to 30% lower if it placed close to a social housing project. People know that the public school in the area have "problems" and most go for private ones.

Out here in CA, he's right. We just get end up with crappy neighborhoods and low supply. Californians flee, Chinese and illegals move in.

All you have to do is look at every major city in America and see how large swaths of them have been lay waste to by the housing policies put in place by the federal government to get the answers. Yet, no one talks about what happened to areas where civilization once thrived.

Same as the 3 billion spent of St. Louis schools in the 1980s after a judge ordered they be built. Attendance & graduation plummeted!!!

Who you gonna believe, "study after study" or you own eyes? There are neighborhoods in Brooklyn permanently blighted by public housing.

He's right. It's not the housing that's doing it.

The innuendo and jargon makes it difficult to understand what he is saying, but on it's face the claim seems to be that people with skin in the game act against their own interests - they believe affordable and expensive are not synonyms?
