It's too bad that when Fred Trump died in 1999, nobody at the NYC IRS office had ever heard the name "Trump," or the IRS might have tried to collect a lot of estate taxes from the Trump family. IRS agents might even have drawn straws to see who gets to go after the Trumps

The IRS failed to notice Fred Trump's estate b/c his son stayed out of the news. Don only came to public attention in the fall of 99, after Fred's death, by telling Larry King he was exploring a presidential run. Americans scratched their head and wondered who he even was.
