It's an artefact of people searching for "African-American Inventors". Try "US inventors" instead

Google must get many requests for “African American inventors” and assumes that’s what you really meant when you ask for “American inventors.” After all, what kind of sick Nazi do you have to be to be interested in your fellow Americans irrespective of race? That’s racist!

For American inventors, I get Madam C. J. Walker listed two ahead of some inconsequential white guy Thomas Edison. She apparently sold a line of cosmetics but even Wikipedia doesn't call her an inventor. I'm surprised Kylie Jenner isn't listed by Google as an American inventor.

Madame CJ Walker was first black millionaire, of either sex. She invented the biggest selling product for straightening black hair. http://articles.latimes.com/2003/apr/27/books/bk-baker27/2 … Asians have mostly pushed blacks out of the black hair business by now, but it used to be lucrative for blacks.

She made a fortune helping black women look more like white women. lol

Nikola Tesla? He seems awfully Serbian. Granted he needed to come to the US to get anything done.

Still seems skewed. Lewis Latimer’s inventions seem fairly modest, but he shows up before the Wright Brothers and Tesla?

Click on the UNZ article to see how deep this goes - it's mind numbing. The #2 inventor is best known for patenting a manufacturing design for light bulb filaments. Good stuff - but how do the propagandists at Google put this ahead of the light bulb itself?
