But you have to be careful to go by skin color: sun exposure makes a yuuuuge difference for some skins. You put a rural Syrian in an urban place and they become pale.
I’ve noticed that when I was younger I got very dark in the sun, now I cannot get the same tone. I wonder if aging is a component.

Even high grade movies like Gladiator had Djimon Hounsou, and mediocre but entertaining shlock like 300 had tons of black Persian generals, etc. The funniest was when Empire (2005), an awful show, had the black president from 24 as a Roman general. Yes, the blackest man ever!
