Generally, NIMBYs who show up at meetings to block new developments are older whites. But LA Times has been covering trend of Asians in Irvine, CA and Koreatown in LA getting more NIMBY. Asian immigrants are much less suave than whites would be about, say, denouncing homeless. https://twitter.com/seamus_mc6/status/1043107353355341824 …

In LA Times, Anh Do has an entertaining schtick: recording Asian NIMBYs in Irvine, CA saying crass things about Southern California’s growing infestation of bums and junkies that make the Asians sound slightly to the right of Ming the Merciless.https://www.unz.com/isteve/stay-out-of-our-near-beach-community-roundeye-junkies/ …

These articles remind me of my idea for a sitcom: "Korean Mother-in-Law:" a nice, slightly hapless American white guy with a job where he must be politically correct all the time, like professor of genetics, has to invite his wife’s unfiltered Korean mother to move in with them.

My only quibble about that piece is that a lot of those Asians aren't making 250K/year. I know kids FOB from China whose mother is a dishwasher, father is unemployed until he gets his commercial driver's license, and they're renting a house.

I'm teaching ESL again this year and was talking to the department head about one of the kids, from China, who does no work at all, and hasn't for two years. Dept head sez yeah, I'm trying to get his dad in here, but he works three jobs.

I said, "How the fuck are families with no visible means of support getting visas? Who are they paying?" Dept head (Japanese American) shrugged. "Someone." Very common to see Chinese kids parents are in deeply menial jobs, owning cars, living in $5k/month houses.

By the way, while this particular kid is not terribly pleasant, utterly wasting every second of an expensive state provided education, there's another Chinese immigrant, exact situation described above. Genius. Brilliant, funny, adorable. The kids vary. the situations don't.

Asians are the least politically correct people on the earth. They are hilarious, you can say anything you want as long as it's not in English.

Asians best positioned to leverage PC’s traject. MSM will ignore public NIMBY-isms, for fear of incurring POC wrath of #AngryAsians. Gotta hand it to them: mastered oppressor/victim balanc act in way only 1 other eth grp has done. Latter demo, tho, is saturated in elite strata.

And the Korean grandmother will be from the North. She'll antagonize her Christian son-in-law with daily idol worship of Kim Il-Sung and demand that his picture be hung in the den. When he says no, she retaliates by getting her grandson the same haircut as Kim Jong-un #ComedyGold

Too bad my TV network is imaginary. Still I wonder why there isn't more populism in media. If I had I few hundred million I'd be starting up a center-right news organization operating across various metro/regional area.

That sounds like my idea from 2014 for an irreverent cartoon titled "That's My Trigger!" about an intersectional genderfluid singing cowperson trying to spread the word of woke tolerance and social justice only to be stymied by the hilarious antics of their extremely un-PC horse.
