And, so my fellow Americans, ask not what The Economy can do for you, ask what you can do for The Economy.https://twitter.com/tedlieu/status/1040461897546387457 …

One of the things that makes America great is the energy, ingenuity and risk taking of immigrants. With GDP growth going above 4% several times during Obama's tenure as well as now, it's clear immigration doesn't hurt our economy, immigration helps our economy. https://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1040458648953212929 …

More worker units are needed and since the native birth rates are so low we must import ppl from the 3rd world to take your place cuz all that matters is gdp. What do we get out of rising gdp and mass immigration? Getting to keep a job that is paying the same as it did 20yrs ago?pic.twitter.com/DMxOuBUkYP

Lieu's argument is a half truth. Immigration is a net benefit to the economy if there is no welfare state. However, having open borders and the welfare state will bankrupt the middle class. When America said "give us your tired, your poor ..." we had no welfare state. Economics

It is still a benefit for the economy in the sense that a country with higher population growth will have higher economic growth, but immigration is a burden on the native population if the immigrants have below average incomes.

Now Democrats & Liberals will simply lie on social media & make up stats they know to be absolutely false. “With GDP Growth over 4% several times during Obama.” Obama was first ever POTUS to never hit 4% GDP growth during his time as POTUS. Also, immigration is down under Trump.

I’m confused - the census data was used to compile this information? I was told using the census to find out about people’s immigration background would lead directly to Holocaust 2.0.

Doesn't lieu know that gdp per capita is more inportant than simply gdp. More people will always raise the gdp but doesnt mean youre richer.

@tedlieu During recent periods of economic growth, certain factors have been present, therefore those factors don't hurt economic growth. To see how illogical this is, plug in factors: complex tax laws, huge number of regulations, mediocre schools, immigration, etc.

Illegal immigration and too many Visas do harm our citizens wages as well as finding jobs. And if you have an IT job be prepared to be replaced by Indians where you have to train them before you are out the door! Unfair to citizens!
