What's going on at Slate? It always used to be run by smart Jewish guys, like Kinsley, Weisberg, and Plotz. Now they've got, I think, a gentile lady editing it. It seems pretty successful, but it's not very interesting for smart males anymore. More of a Woman's Magazine now.

If you were really smart, you won't say things like that.

You mean: "If you knew what was good for you, you won't say things like that." I say what I want if it appears to me to be: True, Interesting, New, and Funny. It's fun. You should try it some time.

The first half of Slate’s history was full of garbage contrarianism like Mickey Kaus. It was a stupid person’s idea of what smart sounds like. Novelty for novelty’s sake isn’t clever. It’s intellectual onanism and first-year directional school MA nonsense.

@kausmickey only figured out that immigration was the biggest issue of the 21st century a decade before his peers.
Michael Kinsley was a good editor. That's why Bill Gates funded Slate.
Now Gates doesn't, so they clicks, which at least they do with more dignity than Atlantic.

When I was a teenager in the 90s, "The Atlantic Monthly" was considered a prestigious magazine that one dreamed of having their poems or short stories someday published in. Now "The Atlantic" is just another shitty Buzzfeed tier site.
