The tennis victory by half-black but Japanese-born Naomi Osaka was supposed to convince the Japanese to open their borders to massive immigration from fast-growing Africa. But do you get the feeling that Serena's tantrum might persuade the harmony-loving Japanese to say "No."https://twitter.com/rogerkimball/status/1038831071645847553 …

It wouldn't have made any difference either way. For starters, the whole thing is barely a blip on the news radar in Japan. More importantly though, Japan is a cautiously conservative country: change comes very very slowly, if at all.

They had @keinishikori make it to the #USOpen semifinals. Japan is doing pretty well in international sports as it is.

No one is talking about the irony of being named Serena and smashing your racket in a fit of rage. Quite serene indeed.

Koreans love Tiger Woods (who is 35-40% black) but you don't see them inviting millions of Africans to their country.

Multiple occasions, commentators like Fowler boasted how Osaka’s success might finally change JP. It’s a sickness w/ these ppl, that a half-black tennis player, w/ limited ties to JP, wins a grand slam & therefore JP must abandon the homogeneity key to their amazing unity/success
