It is property rights and the preferences of property owners that keeps Malibu empty, not migration limits.

Malibu liberals play both the property rights card and the environmentalist anti-property rights card to achieve their goal of keeping more people from moving to Malibu. But they are shocked, shocked that Americans might do something similar to keep Wretched Refuse out of USA.pic.twitter.com/5ty8RmbtjC

Does he really need for us to say that we want Californians to stay in California and stop wrecking other Western states with their bad ideas? Because I will.
-
Loudly and proudly whenever it comes up! Outside of the thick of Denver and Boulder wanting Californians to stay the fuck out is entirely socially acceptable in Colorado. There's other weed states now, go there.
-
Secession is always an option, and it's not like any tears will be shed over CA leaving the union. They can even coronate Hillary as queen if they like, though something tells me she isn't crazy enough for their tastes.

Was
@robinhanson's question intended as a gotcha? It seems obvious that as states like California import large unskilled, incompatible populations and internally undermine rule of law, there likely *will* be a movement to limit internal migration, and it will make perfect sense. - 1 more reply

Their kids need to go to school with a more diverse group of youths. Never mind the cost. We’ll make their parents pay for it.

Hey, they just invented a term for "between-national." It's called "international."

Huh? Which supporter of national open borders is "fanatical in keeping Malibu empty"?

Actually, I do favor more and more within-nation migration, and I like living in Texas, which has quite relaxed zoning laws. I do not favor open borders at this time, but I would like to see us raise our immigration rates to the Canadian level per capita.
-
Hey man, I think you have the wrong idea about me. I’m not an anarchist or radical, and I think we need to stay on firm ground with our policies whenever possible. That’s why I encourage immigration at
rates, because those numbers have been shown to work. - 1 more reply

You know, I've wondered how this logic would apply to Israel. I mean, if Israel can be selective in keeping non-Jews out of the country, shouldn't Israeli cities and towns likewise have the option of being selective in keeping non-Jews out? Why is no one asking Israelis this?

Yes, one would think that someone who supports a lot of immigration would also support a lot of housing construction to accommodate all of these immigrants. Else, housing prices are going to skyrocket and make housing unaffordable for ordinary Americans! Is this Who We Are?
