http://www.unz.com/isteve/whom-to-leave-behind/ … The Center for Diversity and Inclusion has created the following class exercise for middle school students. The Earth is doomed to destruction, so rank the top 8 "most deserving" of these 12 candidates to be saved on a rocket ship to another planet:pic.twitter.com/q8WABLWreJ

A better question: How long could we expect any combination of 8 of these 12 candidates for Last Humans to survive in outer space before they are killed by their incompetence and/or feelings of political entitlement? We Are Doomed.

well, to be fair to the species, just bc the creators of the question see all the people listed as mere identity-categories to hand places out to according to some nutty crypto-calvinist intuition of moral worth doesn't mean they *are* or see *themselves* as no more than that

so long as we don't let the classes of people who make a living concocting vapid finishing-school exercises like that question anywhere near a position of influence in the selection process we'll probably be fine

Well if it's the whole of the crew instead of last 8 seats, then we're doomed anyway by lack of genetic diversity. Then again, if the mission's planner spent half his short descriptions on useless data like race, I think staying on earth will be safer anyway.
