Another theory is Russians are motivated to get revenge on USA Deep State for unveiling Panama Papers on Putin & Friends' offshore bank accounts. Lots of tit-for-tat among Intelligence Communities. Funny thing is: these rounds of unveilings are probably good for The Public.https://twitter.com/TheFree_Lance/status/1034931870386073602 …

Theory: The State Dept. wing of the 2016 coup plot was motivated in part by revenge on Putin for outing Nuland's UKR abortive king-making. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26079957 …

E.g., one of first things Lenin & Trotsky did in 1917 was unveil Czarist Foreign Ministry's archives of Great War Entente's secret treaties, such as Sykes-Picot to give Syria/Lebanon to France. I bet Putin is proud of that Soviet initiative. After all, it was pretty informative.

Trump should do the same: Publish the secret State Department archives of the Bush and Obama years and lay all the scams and malfeasance out in the sunshine.

Had Russia acquired Trebizond and the surrounding areas after the end of World War I, it is possible that this region would have become Russia's Florida in the 21st century.

The Bolshevik coup was one of the most destructive things that ever happened to Russia, though. In addition to the economic stagnation and demographic losses, the Bolsheviks also squandered Russia's chance of getting some spoils at the end of World War I.
