    Steve Sailer Retweeted Whyvert

Horse racing was central to the growth of biological & human sciences in England. Shakespeare used the word "race" to mean a horse race, a herd of horses, a breed of race horses, a root (like a radish), fast-running water, and a human lineage (e.g., "a noble race of kings").https://twitter.com/whyvert/status/1031243693037105152 …

Why were English racehorse breeders so successful in developing fast Thoroughbreds in the early 18th century? They believed that "heredity was far more important that development or environment". Yikes! Hereditarians! pic.twitter.com/CH60L3E8Q0

"people of common descent," a word from the 16th century, from Middle French race, earlier razza "race, breed, lineage, family" (16c.), https://www.etymonline.com/word/race

Horse breeding has a long history in the Arab world too - it seems weird that they would ignore the lessons from horse breeding in their human breeding.

Speaking historically -- English, Irish Scots, and their fascination with animals. Ever noticed?

I'd make the case that English horticulturalists were far more central, them and pigeon breeders.

the etymology for the word race came to the English from the French, who also used the word first to refer to breeds of horses.

Jimmy the Greek was right. He just wasn't talking about horses.
